Biomass Generating Facilities

US EcoGen uses a standard reference plant design to reduce costs, speed development of new biomass projects, and enhance operating and maintenance characteristics.  Within the standard reference design, each US EcoGen Biomass Electrical Generating Facility (“Generating Facility”) will utilize proven conventional direct-fired, bubbling fluidized bed biomass boiler and steam turbine technology in a “bottom cycle” configuration.  Vertical integration into biomass sourcing, processing, transport and supply through US EcoGen Trading, ensures a robust and high quality fuel supply.

US EcoGen Trading is a wholly owned subsidiary of US EcoGen that is responsible for managing fuel supply for the US EcoGen portfolio of biomass facilities, trading around input commodities such as natural gas, and monetizing environmental attributes.  To ensure a robust and secure fuel supply, US EcoGen Trading is:

  • Expanding vertically into urban wood waste recycling center development, acquisition, ownership, and management

  • In a Joint Venture called Source Biomass, LLC with Q2Earth (www.q2earth.com), Florida’s leading compost manufacturer, to source energy biomass synergistically with green waste for compost, including a recycling center at the Fort Meade site

  • Planting the balance of available land at the US EcoGen Polk site with fast-growing, high-yield eucalyptus grandis to provide an independent and reliable source of high quality biomass

  • Establishing an optimized, dedicated biomass transport fleet domiciled at the site to dramatically reduce costs of transporting biomass to the facility

US EcoGen Trading is setting the groundwork to maximize revenues derived from environmental attributes such as Renewable Energy Credits, Renewable Identification Numbers, and Carbon Credits.
